There’s just over one week until the Woolgoolga event on the October long weekend!
This is one of the most eagerly anticipated comps of the season – not only does it kick start the 2011-12 season, but it is also located in the fantastic Woolgoolga (Woopi). Woopi, if you haven’t been before, has a number of options both for sport and family entertainment. Beaches face every direction other than west and they seem to be able to draw in decent swell where other places are flat. The wind here can either be a strong Southerly or a good NE’r – the NE’rs here start earlier and are stronger than other parts of NSW.
If it isn’t windy the multitude of beaches allows for some excellent surf/SUP sessions – always great when you’re out with all of the NSWWA crew!
Woolgoolga has a number of accommodation options – motels, hotels, a great campsite on the beach and a heap of rental houses. Just remember, it is school holidays so don’t wait too long to organise somewhere to stay!
The last couple of years have seen an informal NSWWA curry night on Saturday followed by the presentation/BBQ at the Seaview Tavern. We can’t guarantee (yet) what will happen on these nights so please keep an eye out on the whiteboard at the comp zone, or ask a committee member.
If there is a southerly forecast for the morning on Saturday, we will aim to get the comp under way early – please make sure you get to the comp site at a reasonable time. Parking is limited at both event sites – you have been warned! The locations can be found on the poster.
We have had scoring heats for four of the last five years – so make sure you get up to Woopi!
Hope to see you all there.
