Updates

Sun 19/11:

It’s a wrap!

Sat 18/11:

It’s on! We ran the bulk of the double elimination for most divisions and got a final result for the women, juniors and amateurs.

Fri 17/11:

No competition today, but some fun conditions at Windang for free sailing, with logo-high waves and 15-20 knots of wind.

Thurs 16/11:

Enjoying this event, and want to ensure windsurfing events like this can continue into the future? We operate on a shoe-string budget so every dollar counts.

We’re allowing sailors who haven’t yet registered to enter the double elimination draw (and get to complete in the awesome conditions forecast) for this weekend! Purchase your entry below by 6:00pm Friday to avoid disappointment.

Wed 15/11:

1300 – Competition has been officially called off for Thursday and Friday, with the double elimination to take place on Saturday and Sunday. The forecast is looking very good, so we will be opening up registrations to competitors not currently in the draw. Stay tuned.

Highlights from the single elimination on day 1

Tues 14/11:

1645 – Competition off for Wednesday . Next call to be made Wednesday.

Mon 13/11:

2000 – Competition off for Tuesday. Next call to be made Tuesday.

0900 – Windang is sailable but not contestable. Competitors are encouraged to freesail, but no competition will be held today. Next update at 8:00pm.

Sun 12/11:

No competition today. A call for Monday will be made this evening.

Sat 11/11:

Competition at Shoalhaven Heads saw the single elimination winners crowned for the Men, Women, Juniors and Masters in great jumping conditions.

Michael Westra finished on top in the men’s, Kate Barker took out the women’s, Quinn Auricht finished ahead in the juniors, and Peter Puhl is the master’s single elimination winner.

1945 – First elimination of Men, Women, Juniors and Masters completed. Preliminary results to be announced soon.

1410 – IT’S VERY WINDY!!!

1300 – We’ve run the juniors round 1 and we are now moving the comp to Shoalhaven heads with the next meeting at 1415

1130 – Expression session 1135-1220. Waiting for waves to build before starting heats. Next update at 1220.

1020 – at the conclusion of sailing, there will be a dinner and drinks at the team house tonight.

1000 – Welcome to the Severne Australian Wavesailing Championships! We would like to acknowledge our event is taking place on Tharawal land and water.

We have competitors from across 4 different states in attendance.

It’s on! We will be attempting to run heats at Gerroa from 11am, but will be further west at track 5 to take advantage of the larger waves.

Event will follow the IWT/PWA rules and format.

Fri 10/11:

2345 – Draw is now published. Check it out on LiveHeats. First briefing 10am tomorrow morning at 7 Mile Beach.

1300 – Registration is now closed.

Divisions are:

  • Juniors <20 years (under 13, 15 and 17 if numbers permit)
  • Women
  • Men
  • Amateurs
  • Masters 45+
  • Grand masters 55+
  • Social/beginner/party riders
    NB: Competitors are to nominate the division they will compete in at the beginning of the comp. A minimum of 2 competitors must nominate a division for it to run.

Yes we have already secured council and waterways permits..

This event promises some fierce partying, competitive ping pong, some great surfing and SUP’ing and of course WAVESAILING.  BRING IT ON.

Plus to add greater value for our interstate wavesailors, we have intentionally set this event so it runs just before the world famous Merimbula Classic 22-26 Nov 2023.  More details at 41st Merimbula Classic

So, book time off from work and make sure you can get to the Severne 2023 Australian Wavesailing Championships. Sydney (Wanda), Gerroa and the other locations; Windang and Shoalhaven Heads can really turn on some great conditions.

You can book in Sydney via booking.com and if you want to base yourself down the coast at Gerroa then holiday rentals can be booked at First National or camping at Seven Mile Beach Caravan Park or Discovery Holiday Parks.
