Windsurf Development Camp 2027

Once again the kids are taking over the town of Gerroa and its nearby rivers, lakes and ocean! This camp continues to grow, and the smiles on the dials of these little shredders is proof that the east coast windsurfing and wavesailing future is looking strong again. Let the pink lemonades flow at the Fishos!

How the coaching works
Beginners start at Crooked River at Gerroa on the high tide. As you progress, we move to the beautiful flat water at Minnamurra, and then on to Sanctuary Point. We’ll have a jet ski and a safety boat on the water.

We sail on the days the wind and weather allow. If we can’t run coaching on a particular day, parents are responsible for their kids.

For the more competent and ambitious kids, the smaller waves of Gerroa present the next ultimate challenge for any aspiring wavesailor. This is an exceptional spot for the transition for kids and adults from flat water to catching their first waves.

With the assistance of on-water coaching from some of the top sailors, the kids can experience the most thrilling sensation possible, riding a swell under wind power, truly life changing! Kids as young as 6 have had this unique experience, and what a sense of achievement and resilience they gained.

We encourage all parents and guardians to assist where they can, rigging, lugging equipment and on-water advice and supervision. Appropriate delegation will be assigned before and during camp so everyone has a great, safe time.

The fun stuff
The first rule of wavecamp is… fun, and that’s an easy one for all kids to follow. Kids from 3 years upward, all playing and partying together.

It’s all about everyone getting together and having fun, especially the kids. There’s a movie night and a barbecue night, plus windsurfing tricks, jumping off the bridge, playing in the sand, boogie boarding, surfing all of it.

There’ll be prizes, and we’ll release an end-of-camp video. Photos and videos will also be available through a web-based portal for anyone who’d like them.

Where we’re staying
We’re blocking out sites at the Gerroa Campsite so everyone’s together. There’s a bouncy pillow, an on-site pool, and barbecue areas so everyone can self-cater and keep costs down. We’ve chosen these dates on purpose. It’s shoulder season, so pricing is a bit lower, and there’s plenty of availability in the last two weeks of January.

Gear
We’ve bought kids’ gear in the right sizes, and it’s available to hire for $10 a week.

Good to know
An adult guardian must come along with anyone under 18, to help support the running of the camp.
The camp is capped at 35 people this year, so get in quickly.
