Saturday 20th of August was the day called by Jason Juretic, Head Judge, to run an informal, no scoring event to kick start the latest season for the NSW Wavesailing Association. The meeting and registration were held at WindsurfnSnow – thanks to Sam who let us use his premises.
Everybody was happy and excited to see a good mix of regulars and new competitors enrol for the 2011-12 Season. The competition was an expression session format with Judges on the water. 15 to 20 people turned up to take on White
Rock, the totally un-secret spot just south of Collaroy beach which very rarely works. Conditions were good, 4 to 5 feet waves and 18 to 22 knots of wind made all the competitors stoked to be there on the sunny afternoon.
A few of the competitors looked pretty sharp and will be expected to do well during the season. Tim Williams and the Juretic family were riding some nice waves whilst the Pros were going hard upwind to catch the biggest waves of the day.
After 90 minutes of competition, the Judges called off the day and asked us to head back to Windsurfnsnow who kindly let us use the BBQ to finish the day around some food and cold beers.
Thanks to everyone who came to Whiterock to compete and to Windsurfnsnow for their, as always, excellent help and hospitality. The comp has certainly got everyone looking forward to the next event in Woolgoolga for the long weekend in October!
